In the upcoming Netsuite Release 2023.2, there will be a key change to a saved search function. This alteration specifically affects the HTML option available to users when creating formulas within the search. In this article, we will review how to maintain the HTML hyperlink option in your saved search fields.

Previously, searches with the Formula (Text) fields that contained HTML code would populate a hyperlink and redirect you to a new page.

However, with the new change this option will no longer work. Meaning if you are using HTML code within the Formula (Text) field, the result will display as plain text instead of a hyperlink.

To continue using the HTML hyperlink option within a saved search field, you must simply choose the Formula (HTML) on the list option. The coding and lines you write in the Formula field within the saved search will stay the same.

This feature is also tied to a permission that may need to be added to Roles that users have access to. If a user attempts to use this function and is not able to see the results, then we know that the issue is tied to the roles permissions.

This permission was initially assigned to all roles with Create level access for the SuiteScript permission and Full level access for the Perform Search permission. You can manually enable it for other users on the Role page in the Setup subtab of the Permissions tab. The name of the permission is Create HTML Formulas in Search.

If a user without the Create HTML Formulas in Search permission tries to edit a saved search that uses a Formula (HTML) field, all Formula (HTML) columns are removed. Additionally, the user will only be able to save a copy of the search using the Save As function.

This HTML function is a great and versatile tool when using saved search. It allows you to expand your access from the results into another page within NetSuite. As I mentioned, this change is small but may throw you off if you are not aware of the new option available.
