NetSuite Ship Central continues to enhance its shipping platform with each update, and the new Release 2025.2 update is no exception. While there are a few updates I recommend you take the time to review on NetSuite’s 2025.2 release notes, the one I would like to highlight specifically is the new return label functionality. This new functionality looks to extend how Ship Central works in a significant way. How? Read on to find out.
When Ship Central first came out, it did not have the ability to generate return labels. This meant the solution still required you to have access to UPS WorldShip, FedEx Ship Manager, or in the worst case, a third-party shipping solution. Ship Central eventually enhanced its platform to allow you to generate return labels during shipping. Think of some of the clothing stores like Banana Republic and others which often include return labels with their shipments. Still, there was no ability to generate a return label on-demand through NetSuite. Furthermore, the setting was all or nothing. You either had it on (and generated a return label for each shipment you processed) or had it off (and generated a return label outside the system using the methods I listed earlier in this paragraph).
Fortunately, NetSuite promises to change that with the new 2025.2 which is in the process of being rolled out to many clients. With the new release, users will be able to leverage Ship Central to generate return labels from the NetSuite ERP. As you process a return authorization within the system, you will be given the ability to generate return labels and send them to customers via email. The caveat here is you will need to have a Ship Central configured shipping method, and stand-alone customer returns are not currently supported. These and other features are expected to be rolled out over the coming weeks as NetSuite rolls out release 2025.2. However, if you have a Release Preview environment, I recommend you leverage that environment to evaluate this and other functionality out before it is released to your Production instance.
