Manufacturing Task Scheduler SuiteApp

Written by Jose Moreno, Consultant | May 29, 2025 4:00:00 PM

Managing operational tasks within the manufacturing shop floor is an important responsibility of any production manager. As a result, production managers need the ability to efficiently oversee and manage the various operational tasks within the organization. Given the number of work orders that can be open and in process at any given time, this oversight duty places a considerable burden on production managers. To assist managers in this space, NetSuite has released the Manufacturing Schedule SuiteApp, which provides a graphical interface where you can view and manage operation tasks assigned to a work center. Like most NetSuite-developed SuiteApps, the Manufacturing Scheduler is available to install with no additional cost.

Setup Requirements

You can navigate to the SuiteApp marketplace and search for Manufacturing Scheduler to find the SuiteApp. Before installing it, make sure the enable the following features (which most likely are if you are considering this SuiteApp):

  • Manufacturing Work in Process
  • Manufacturing Routing and Work Center

As you can see, the target customer for this SuiteApp is one who is already using NetSuite’s WIP & Routing modules. Customers who are not using these features will likely find this SuiteApp to not be a good value add, as it depends on WIP and Routing being enabled and configured. That being said, you will also want to make sure the standard roles below are enabled prior to installing the SuiteApp:

  • CEO
  • CFO
  • Sales Vice President
  • Accountant
  • Accountant (Reviewer)
  • Bookkeeper
  • Warehouse Manager

Accessing The Manufacturing Scheduler

Once the SuiteApp is installed, you can immediately access the scheduler by navigating to Transactions > Manufacturing > Manufacturing Scheduler. Be sure not to click the Manufacturing Task Scheduler, which is the legacy version of the scheduler which will be deprecated and removed by NetSuite at some future point in time.

Accessing the manufacturing scheduler for the first time will show you a view similar to this:

The Manufacturing Scheduler supports Work Center and Work Order views, and tasks can be viewed by Day, Week, or Month. Scheduling for a work center will follow the work calendar set on that work center. Hovering over a task will display more information relating to the operation task, including the assembly item, work order number, status, start and end dates, and estimated hours.

Customized views can be created, allowing production managers to tailor views within a specific date range, specific work centers, work order statuses, and manufacturing locations, ensuring those production managers see the manufacturing tasks that are most important for them.

While brief, I hope you found this overview helpful. Be sure to check our Short & Suites, where I will perform a hands on demonstration of the SuiteApp and how to use the drag functionality to schedule tasks!
