SuiteApp Overview - Available to Build

Written by Jose Moreno, Consultant | Jan 23, 2025 5:00:00 PM

The Available to Build SuiteApp was recently rolled out with NetSuite Release 2024.2. This NetSuite developed solution adds the ability to calculate available to build quantities for assemblies and kit/package items. It helps manufacturing clients quickly assess and make accurate inventory decisions with respect to product demand and component availability. Best of all, the SuiteApp comes at no additional cost and can be installed on most NetSuite instances.

Sales Order Entry

The Available to Build SuiteApp is available for installation on the SuiteApp Marketplace. After installation and minor configuration, a Calculate Available to Build column and corresponding tab become available on Sales Order forms. For a given assembly item or kit/package item, you can calculate Available to Build quantity during order entry using a Top Level or All Levels option. For more information on these two options and calculations involved, refer to this SuiteAnswers article: Available to Build Calculation. After selecting the desired calculation method, results can be viewed on the Available to Build tab on the order record as shown below.

Entering an assembly or kit/package item presents you with an option to calculate the available to build quantity, which takes into consideration component availability for the given location.

Results can be viewed on the Available to Build tab, and manufacturers can use this information to gain insight into production requirements.

Item 360

If you utilize NetSuite’s Item 360 Dashboard, you will find the portlet will add Available to Build sections to both Manufacturing and Sales tab.

Available to Build data can be viewed for a given item, location, and subsidiary using the Item 360 Dashboard Portlet.

For Kit/Package items, Available to Build is displayed under the Sales tab on the Item 360 Dashboard portlet.

In summary, the Available to Sell SuiteApp is a free NetSuite developed solution designed to help manufacturers understand the quantities of assemblies and kit/package items they can assemble given on-hand inventory quantities. Through this visibility, manufacturers can then quickly make informed decisions on production and procurement requirements. Did I mention it’s free?
