We previously published a Short & Suite on our YouTube channel covering NetSuite WMS’s inventory cycle count process. Quick aside, if you have not checked out our line up of YouTube videos, I encourage you to search for us by typing Concentrus into YouTube for loads of helpful NetSuite videos and how-tos. In any case, in that video I demonstrated one way to count inventory in NetSuite using a handheld. The other way is through the Smart Count SuiteApp which is included with your NetSuite WMS license. These two process options are both available to you, but Smart Count is considered the latest and greatest from NetSuite and will continue to receive updates as the software matures. Regardless, I would like to give you an overview of how SuiteApp can help you manage your inventory accuracy and cycle count process.
At a high level, Smart Count allows you to do the following:
Auto approve count variances and define tolerances (not something I typically recommend enabling initially, but it can be something to work towards).
The Smart Count Suite App comes preloaded with a dashboard that provides a warehouse operations manager with a useful overview of various cycle count metrics. This “30,000 foot view” provides operations manager a readily accessible snapshot of inventory count activities.

I’ll save the hands-on demonstration for our Smart Count Short & Suite video, but if you are familiar with NetSuite WMS or Ship Central, you’ll find that Smart Count also utilizes a familiar user interface. This is good, as it allows existing WMS or Ship Central users to quickly pick up the application as it will look and feel familiar with what they are already used to.
Smart Count can be accessed through the SCM mobile interface as its own application and sports many of the same user interface design cues present in WMS and Ship Central.
As I mentioned previously, Smart Count is available with your NetSuite WMS license and should not incur an additional part. You or your Administrator will need to install the Smart Count Foundation Bundle followed by the Smart Count Suite App. From there, configure your Smart Count preferences and create your count configuration records. I will cover count configuration records in a video so be sure to check our YouTube channel, where I’ll also publish a hands-on demonstration of Smart Count.
