A new NetSuite release (2024.2) is right around the corner and with the new release come a number of useful enhancements for NetSuite Ship Central. I’d like to highlight two of the upcoming features I’m most excited about and have seen requested by my clients. I definitely recommend you check out the full NetSuite 2024.2 Release Notes article from Oracle as it covers the whole suite (no-pun intended) of enhancements NetSuite is adding. Without further ado, let’s take a look at what’s been added.
Mark as Shipped Option for Packing
NetSuite is adding a feature to the packing summary screen which will allow a warehouse operator packing orders to mark the order shipped. While small parcel orders processed through Ship Engine have a handy ‘Go to Shipping’ button, other types of shipments like Will Call or LTL pick ups relied on a different process flow using WMS Quick Ship to mark the orders shipped. The alternative to QuickShip was marking the order shipped in NetSuite or creating a scripted customization. The new feature allows you to mark the order shipped immediately after packing, which promises to impact packing productivity in a positive way.
Reopening Packed Cartons that Ship As Is
This particular feature has been requested by my clients before and I’m excited to see the Ship Central product team finally add it. NetSuite Ship Central allows you to mark an item as a ‘Ship As Is’ item. This functionality can be helpful for products that you stock ready to ship. For example, a computer that is already boxed up and simply needs a ship label and packing slip attached. However, on occasion you may find a need to ship a smaller together with the ‘Ready to Ship’ item. Ship Central now supports this functionality out of the box with Release 2024.2, by allowing you to open those ‘Ready to Ship’ item packages and pack additional items into them as needed systemically.
The NetSuite Ship Central product team continues to enhance the application and I’m eager to see what useful features they add next. While the two features I covered here today are good to know, I definitely recommend you check the full release 2024.2 notes from Oracle. Exciting stuff is on the way.
