If you have worked with NetSuite item records, you might be familiar with the Locations subtab found under the Purchasing/Inventory tab. In general, this tab offers useful informational attributes about an item including inventory, costing, among others. However, depending on the features you have enabled in your environment or the needs of the people working with these item records, the amount of information displayed can equate to noise. To address these and other concerns, NetSuite has developed a feature named Advanced Item Location Configuration which we will review in this blog.

Assembly Items with Special Order Components
Today, we're delving into the world of Assembly Items that come with special order inventory components. Essentially, this means that within the Bill of Materials, one of the inventory items is a special order item. The catch here is that this special-order item isn't stocked at your current location. Now, it's important to clarify the distinction between special orders and drop shipments. While a drop shipment involves the item being shipped directly to the customer, a special-order item is received at your company's warehouse first. However, don't forget, you still have the flexibility to switch to a drop shipment on the line level field if the need arises.

In warehouse operations, a common challenge is how to efficiently manage product code updates to inventory you receive from your vendors. Depending on your business, you may be looking at a considerable number of items to update. These product code updates in turn can require significant effort from your warehouse staff to roll out and can hamper warehouse activities which tend to rely on accurate product barcodes for scanning items quickly and efficiently. To solve this problem, Netsuite WMS offers the concept of a WMS item alias which allows you toassociate your internal part number to multiple product codes without having to necessarily relabel your existing product. Adding WMS support for new vendor product codes can be done quickly and easily without impacting overall warehouse efficiency.

Timing Out and Unexpected Error When Viewing Records
An "Unexpected Error" is encountered when viewing a list of record (Example: Lists > Relationships > Customers). This is often caused by a customization on the List View. Meanwhile, when performing a global search on a Customer records, it is working fine.To avoid this, reset the List View of the current user by providing the URL of the Standard View.
