We previously published a Short & Suite on our YouTube channel covering NetSuite WMS’s inventory cycle count process. Quick aside, if you have not checked out our line up of YouTube videos, I encourage you to search for us by typing Concentrus into YouTube for loads of helpful NetSuite videos and how-tos. In any case, in that video I demonstrated one way to count inventory in NetSuite using a handheld. The other way is through the Smart Count SuiteApp which is included with your NetSuite WMS license. These two process options are both available to you, but Smart Count is considered the latest and greatest from NetSuite and will continue to receive updates as the software matures. Regardless, I would like to give you an overview of how SuiteApp can help you manage your inventory accuracy and cycle count process.

In warehouse operations, a common challenge is how to efficiently manage product code updates to inventory you receive from your vendors. Depending on your business, you may be looking at a considerable number of items to update. These product code updates in turn can require significant effort from your warehouse staff to roll out and can hamper warehouse activities which tend to rely on accurate product barcodes for scanning items quickly and efficiently. To solve this problem, Netsuite WMS offers the concept of a WMS item alias which allows you toassociate your internal part number to multiple product codes without having to necessarily relabel your existing product. Adding WMS support for new vendor product codes can be done quickly and easily without impacting overall warehouse efficiency.

An Overview of Netsuite’s Inventory Status Feature
Successful inventory management is a key component in any business, and understanding the challenges and opportunities in this space is critical to developing successful and impactful processes. One of the challenges in this space with regard to Netsuite has been how to effectively manage inventory that should not be sold, or inventory that can be sold but should otherwise be segregated based on specific attributes. Traditionally, part of the challenge is how to prevent this inventory from being allocated to sales orders or how to track inventory items that share the same item number in Netsuite but may have small differences such as packaging.

WMS Pack Station: Reprinting Documents via Netsuite UI
Netsuite’s PackStation application offers a way to re-print important documents through the mobile UI on the go. In most cases, mobile warehouse operators are able to quickly reprint documents right from the handheld. However, there may be occasions where this may not be possible or where an alternative may be desired. An alternative option is to print the document through the Netsuite UI, and the process is fairly straightforward. In addition to printing documents through the Netsuite UI, you are also able to send documents straight through the PrintNode connection out to the warehouse. Let’s take a look at both options.

During your WMS PackStation implementation, you may have noticed your packages have autogenerated numbers. Generally, those autogenerated packages follow the numbering scheme of sales order # + some number. In most cases, the default numbering scheme will suffice for most customers. However, as with most settings in Netsuite, this can be customized based on business requirements.

One of the most important decisions a warehouse manager has to make is how to prioritize order fulfillment activities in the warehouse. There are many parameters that determine what orders get fulfilled first, and it is important to have a tool that is both flexible and robust enough to support the warehouse manager’s activities and make sure both fulfillment deadlines and customer satisfaction goals are met. In comes Netsuite WMS Wave Release to the rescue.
