Sales is an interesting profession. While I believe and know it can be a most honorable one, when I ask others what comes to mind when they hear that someone is ‘in sales,’ the answers are rarely positive. I usually get something to the effect of, “Ugh! Someone who couldn’t get a real job" or "someone that is a good manipulator.”
All Dressed up and Nowhere to go?
Sometimes running a business can feel like that. Especially if you’ve got a good one.
You’ve got a Solid Mission, Product, Team, and Systems to deliver an amazing customer experience, but not enough customers to impact. What’s worse is they don’t seem to understand the difference between you and your lower-priced, lower-quality competitors.
The game isn’t over until it’s over. We witnessed that in the 2017 SuperBowl where the New England Patriots trailed the Atlanta Falcons 28-9 at the end of the third quarter. The Falcons dominated and most were expecting the same results by game end. But stunningly, the Patriots didn’t panic. Not only did they tie the game by the end of regulation in the fourth quarter, but they won it in overtime! It is the greatest SuperBowl comeback win in league history.
