You need to prepare accurate, detailed customs documents to help keep your international shipments on track. In Netsuite, UPS and FedEx shipping integration enables you to electronically submit trade documents for international shipments. After you fulfill an order using FedEx or UPS, it generates an electronic version of the trade documents and then transmits them with your shipment. PDF versions of the documents are attached to the fulfillment record order.

The Commercial Invoice is required for all international commodity shipments and serves as the foundation for all other international shipping documents. It’s the primary document used by most foreign customs agencies for import control, valuation and duty determination. Foreign buyers require this document in order to prove ownership and arrange for payment. As the shipment’s exporter, you’re responsible for preparing the Commercial Invoice form. The commercial invoice acts as a bill of sale between the shipper/seller and the receiver/buyer. Commercial invoices include the following:

      • The products being shipped
      • The origin of the products
      • The use of the products
      • The total value of each item
      • The number of packages
      • The total weight

Commercial invoices are used for international shipments containing items that are not documents. The invoice is the primary document for import control, valuation, and duty determination. Information on commercial invoices is pulled from fields on the International subtab of item fulfillments and the Basic subtab of item records.

To print commercial invoice with the UPS or FedEx shipping integration in Netsuite, please review the following:

      1. Fulfill the international shipping orders.
      2. In Item fulfillment, navigate to “International” tab and select the international documents to be generated.

      3. Save the item fulfillment
      4. Print

OR you can navigate to the Print Checks & Forms (Global search) > UPS® International Forms > Print.

The commercial invoice (or pro forma invoice) is required for all cross-border shipments (except for documents, which have no commercial value). It is the primary form used for importation control, valuation and duty determination. The Commercial Invoice is required for all international commodity shipments. In other words, it’s required for any international shipment with commercial value.
